Do not Do not Do not get your dress altered at the bridal salon where you’ve purchased your wedding dress. Wedding dress boutiques make the majority of their money from alterations. The best rule of thumb would be to check out The Knot.com and look up your city or state and go to the chat rooms to see who brides have used in the past and how well their wedding dress was altered and the charge. I found my wedding dress alterations lady from the The Knot.com and the price was very reasonable and she made my veil all for $200.00. My wedding dress had to be taken in from a size 8 to a size 4 and it looked like it was never touched. I’ve included a picture of my wedding dress when I first purchased it and the picture on the right is my dress altered it fit like a glove on my wedding day.

Here is a word you may not know “Sample Sale. To some this is a regular word that signifies a sale on items that have been sampled but not purchased. To a bride to be this is the best thing since sliced bread. Wedding dresses can cost you anywhere from $500.00 up to $20,000 but…(read carefully) if you go to a sample sale you can get the designer wedding dress of your dreams for 50%-75% off. A sample sale for wedding dresses are designed to have designer dresses to be sold for less. How is this you ask… well let me tell you ladies…just like in a department store you have designers ship their product to a store to be sold. Well wedding dress are made according to your measurement not to be pick up off the rack and hope it fits your body. So wedding dress designers make a few dresses mostly a size 8-10 for brides to try them on in the store/boutique then to be ordered and the dress is made from scratch. A sample sale are the wedding dresses that have been tried on and some that have not been..like at a regular department store. For my wedding last year I purchased a mermaid couture Anjolique wedding gown for $1,400.00 the original price tag was $3,500.00.

Here are two stores that carry only sample sale bridal gowns:
