The best rule of thumb would be to check out The Knot.com and look up your city or state and go to the chat rooms to see who brides have used in the past and how well their wedding dress was altered and the charge. I found my wedding dress alterations lady from the The Knot.com and the price was very reasonable and she made my veil all for $200.00. My wedding dress had to be taken in from a size 8 to a size 4 and it looked like it was never touched.
